For my 2012 spring/summer collection "If I were a painter" I was inspired by certain leading artists of the nineteen forties and fifties such as Rothko, Klein, Miro and Calder who used a rich colour palette and succeeded in creating some magnificent colour combinations. I associate the work of this masters with an unbounded freedom of expression which I tried to emulate in my own creations. But also the ordinary Sunday painters like my grandfather, his wrong perspectives, naive representations and bizar colour combinations appealed to me and gave me a taste for working with colour. The collection is composed of geometric surfaces and contrasting colours such as turquoise, bright blue, red, reddish brown, light green, grass green and black. |
